THE
SECRETS
OF SELLING
GROUP TRAVEL
Selling Group Travel can be rewarding, profitable, easy, and build a loyal traveler base.
It is an extremely untapped segment of the travel industry. East Town Travel has been a leader in organizing and delivering successful group travel experiences for nearly 25 years. We’d like to invite you to consider the opportunity to become a Group Leader.
Define a Group Leader/”Pied Piper”
Individuals with time, interest and a sphere of influence in order to bring together affinity groups to travel together would be a formal definition. However, in simpler terms, Group Leaders are creative organizers with selling skills that are able to develop an attractive getaway package and then convince others to join him/her on the trip. These getaways may be as short as one day trips to Chicago for theater and shopping, a weekend in New York or Vegas, a Caribbean cruise or possibly a European holiday.
Qualifications for being a Group Leader
Are you well connected? If you in charge of an affinity group, i.e. organization, association, alumni group, sports club, special interest groups, friend or family vacation, you are a prime candidate.
Ideally, you have strong promotional skills and feel comfortable speaking to a group and present materials in a professional and upbeat manner. Having some sales experience and the ability to get a commitment and close a sale. Having good computer and organizational is also a real asset. Having experienced a group tour as well as having traveled extensively is also a big plus. However, the key ingredient for a successful group leader is someone who has great people skills; is a good communicator, friendly, enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoys meeting new people.
Create your own benefit package
Group Leaders/Pied Pipers earn money – a fixed amount built in to the trip package, for each paid passenger that is booked on that group departure. In addition to that commission, pied pipers who escort the group earn a free place based on a formula determined when the trip is initially priced. As a travel seller you will also have the opportunity to attend destination seminars, industry travel shows, and after a required minimum time working with East Town Travel, you would be accredited to participate in industry Familiarization Trips to destinations around the world.
